new beginnings

Maybe you can relate to this, too. I’ve been writing - music, stories, and poems - pretty much since I could move a pencil. Someday, I’ll share with you a story at age 5. I gave my 2-year-old sister a byline, too.

Are you a child of the 80s and 90s? Did you maybe have something like this as a kid?

One side of Disney’s Storyteller Cassette invited you to record your own story, so I took them up on it. Into the world came a story about a ladybug who was a picky eater. (They say to write what you know.)

Somewhere along the way… after I had written melodies to memorize Bible verses, and filled notebooks with poems… I stopped trusting the inner creative, for awhile. The inner critic got the better of me.

I trained as a pianist and classical performer. I followed other passions into a 7-year career. I fought back self-doubt and negativity as a new mom. And I took my time to dismantle the self-limiting, self-defeating messages of perfectionism.

I know now it’s much more rewarding to lean into the creation of things I appreciate. It’s much more fun to follow my curiosity. It’s much more exciting to find out whether some of my friends might be interested in them, too.

I hope you find something here that moves you, inspires you, or instills a particular kind of joy. Sending love in Christ to you today!
